  • 4 –5 large croissants preferably day-old
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate semi-sweet or dark
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk or half-and-half
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Butter or cooking spray for greasing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish.
  2. Tear croissants into large pieces and spread evenly in the dish.
  3. Sprinkle chocolate evenly over the croissants.
  4. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  5. Pour the custard evenly over the croissants, gently pressing them down.
  6. Let rest for 5–10 minutes to absorb.
  7. Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, until golden on top and just set in the center.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.
