Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes

Bold and saucy Cajun Chicken Sloppy Joes made with juicy chicken, peppers, onions, and smoky Cajun spices. A quick and satisfying comfort-food dinner perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb 450 g boneless chicken breast or thighs, diced or thinly sliced
  • tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 1 red bell pepper diced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ¾ cup tomato sauce or ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce optional
  • ¼ cup chicken broth
  • 4 brioche or hamburger buns toasted

Method
 

  1. Season the chicken with Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until golden and slightly crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, sauté onion and bell pepper until soft. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  4. Stir in tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and chicken broth. Simmer until slightly thickened.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet and toss to coat evenly. Simmer 3–5 minutes.
  6. Spoon mixture onto toasted buns and serve warm.
